News · Spellshooter 2

Spellshooter 2 is in store submission. Here is what ships in 1.0.

Version 1.0 of Spellshooter 2 is built, tested, and submitted for review on the App Store, with Google Play following. Store review takes as long as it takes, so we are not naming a date. What we can do is tell you exactly what is in the build, what is not, and why.

Free, for everyone

  • Clear 'Em. The classic score-attack: a wall of letter tiles, a cannon, and as many words as you can spell before the wall wins.
  • Daily Challenge. One board a day, seeded from the date, the same for every player in the world.
  • Endless. Keep going until you cannot.
  • Personal bests, stats, and achievements, tracked on your device with no sign-in.
  • Optional leaderboards, global and friends, using an anonymous player ID and a name you choose.
  • A first-run tutorial that shows the one thing new players miss: dragging the TIME meter.

Deluxe, one time

Deluxe is a single purchase that adds Rush, Zen, and Campaign modes, removes rewarded ads, and includes the Holiday Pack's seasonal worlds, soundtracks, and sound effects. The Holiday Pack is also available on its own, and an upgrade path lets Holiday Pack owners move to Deluxe for the difference. There is no subscription. Prices appear on the store listing at launch.

About the ads

Free players can choose to watch a rewarded video for a specific in-game benefit, such as a Power Stash item or a set of hints. The choice is yours every time, nothing plays unprompted, and Deluxe players claim the same capped benefit with no ad at all. Ads are requested as non-personalized and the app does not ask to track you across other apps.

What we cut

Three things did not make 1.0, and we would rather say so than let you discover it. Cross-device sync of personal bests is out, because it would need an account. In-app purchases on the web version are out, so the free web preview links to mobile for Deluxe. And a couple of the animated worlds we designed are held back for a later update so we could spend the time on bank-shot physics, which matters more.

The last fixes

The final builds before submission went to bank-shot accuracy, so tiles now sit exactly in the gap the aim line entered, and to layout on small phones and short windows, so the launch screen no longer clips on any device we could find. Testers on TestFlight also got a toggle to swap between Deluxe and Holiday Pack states so that both paths were exercised before review.
